The project involved the refurbishment of an original protected structure to provide accommodation for the School of Drama, Theatre and Performance.

This involved demolition and removal works, re-roofing of the building and provision of a new floor structure, plus re-pointing of the external façade. This was followed by the creation and fit- out of a new theatre with seating, rehearsal rooms and support spaces.

A location for Drama, Theatre & Performing Arts.

"Purcell has a particular expertise in dealing with protected structures, the building techniques and materials necessary in working with same. Working successfully with a protected structure requires a deep understanding from the contractor of the nature of the original materials, historic building techniques, the time and quality of tradesmen necessary to work on this type of building, together with the careful control and management of the modern services requirements, coordinating and planning carefully the pathways for same.

Purcell, in all of the above categories, excelled in their approach and execution of the works."
