Demolition of existing buildings, construction of a new 3 storey building over split levels, to accommodate children’s’ areas, book stacks, reading rooms, IT zones, offices and meeting rooms.

Internal finishes include exposed fair-faced concrete to wall, stairs and ceilings, highlighted through a series of voids allowing daylight to penetrate into the heart of the building. Underpinning of adjoining properties was required following demolition works. This project was shortlisted for the Irish Concrete Society’s 35th Annual Awards.

A wonderful public facility in the heart of Arklow Town.

"The project was completed to a very high standard and the Purcell team managed all aspects of the construction on site in a professional and well organised manner. They worked closely with the Design Team,
maintained good working relationships with neighbours and were attentive to client representatives in all aspects of the project in order to successfully complete a well-crafted building on a challenging town centre site."
