Purcell Construction is delighted to have delivered Ireland’s first ever Passivhaus standard school in Scoil Mhuire, Moynalty, Co. Meath. which was substantially complete on 20th March 2012. With an airtightness rating of 0.54 (m³/hr)/M³@50pa, it has also achieved the lowest ever air-tightness rating for a non-domestic building in Ireland. Achievement of the Passivhaus standard required extremely high standards of design, specification and construction in the areas of thermal insulation, air-tightness measures, triple-glazing, photo-voltaic solar panels, wood chip boiler and a heat recovery ventilation system. The buildings integrated BMS system provides system controls and acts as an educational facility, which the staff and pupils can monitor.
