The Role

  • Full review and assessment of tender documentation including interpreting drawings, specifications, reports and general scope of works requirements.
  • Preparation of inhouse tender review presentation and attending site visits.
  • Preparation of consultant, subcontractor and material packages for pricing using latest estimating software and preparation of cost analysis on packages for cost comparison purposes.
  • Measurement of work as required in accordance with ARM 4 and updates.
  • Continuous management of tender documents, including preparation of tender queries and management of tender clarifications / addendums.
  • Preparation and pricing of tender documents and project specific preliminaries including identification of project risks and pricing of same.
  • Establish opportunities for alternatives and value engineering proposals.
  • Completion and submission of tender in accordance with Instructions to Tender.
  • Correspondence with design team/tendering authority during and post tender.
  • Preparation of project handover reports including collation of the necessary and associated tender documentation and liaising with project QS and Construction Team to review pricing strategies, quotes & budgets.
  • Preparation and maintenance of estimating data for reports and tender application.
  • Assist the Bid Technical Manager in the preparation of tender applications and works proposals.
  • Build relations and maintaining same with existing and potential clients and design teams and assist in the preparation of cost plans, expression of interest and presentations to clients and design teams.

The Candidate

  • Must be from a main contractor background with relevant onsite operations experience and good technical knowledge.
  • Minimum 7 year experience working in Building Construction Estimating / Tendering.
  • Good ability to read drawings, specification and reports with capability to assess issues and risk.
  • Clear and concise communicator with an aptitude for problem solving and thinking outside the box.
  • Capable of working on his/her own initiatives and as part of a team.
  • Able to work accurately and efficiently while managing owns time to meet critical deadlines.
  • Relevant diploma or degree level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or Construction related discipline.
  • Be proficient in word and excel and a knowledge of conquest a plus.
  • Hold a valid driving licence.
