The Opportunity

You will be joining a leading Irish building contractor committed to the highest standards of safety, quality and sustainability with an earned reputation for delivering outstanding quality projects which meet and exceed our client’s expectations.

You will work as part of the Environmental, Health and Safety team where you will be supported and provided with the opportunity develop and progress your career in EHS.

 The Role

Working alongside an experienced Safety Officer to:

  • Promote and implement the requirements of the ISO accredited safety management system on site.
  • Be an influencer and offer encouragement to promote a positive EHS culture on site.
  • Review subcontractor documentation.
  • Deliver the induction programmes for personnel working on site.
  • Review Method Statements and Safe Plans of Action.
  • Actively participate in the planning process for all works.
  • Actively participate in the various site coordination meetings
  • Compose and deliver weekly Safety Briefings
  • Undertake day-to-day management of safety on site, identifying risks.
  • Monitor environmental risks associated with the site work.
  • Keep records associated with hazardous materials/substances.
  • Monitor and review site performance through observations, inspections and audits.
  • Promote the site Behavioural Based Safety programme.
  • Monitor adherence with the site online EHS management system.
  • Work with the wider EHS team to improve safety culture across the company.
  • Compile and identify relevant information for inclusion in the Safety File.
  • Gather information in conjunction with the Emergency Coordinator if incidents occur.
  • Carry out any other duty assigned by the EHS Manager during the course of work.

The Person

  • Minimum of a Degree/Diploma in Occupational Safety & Health.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in an EHS Construction role.
  • Proven competence of health, safety and welfare regulations, guidelines, and best practices in Construction.
  • Safe pass and manual handling training desirable.
  • Good understanding of a construction site environment and ability to identify and implement best practices.
  • Have a strong sense on honesty and integrity
  • A strong communicator, able to build positive working relationships internally/externally across all levels.
  • Good time keeping, attention to detail and problem-solving aptitudes
  • Innovative by sharing ideas and challenging standard practices
  • Be familiar with the use of the MS Office suite and adept at learning other software packages
