The Role

Junior Estimator working under the guidance of Senior Estimators with responsibilities for :-

  • Review and assessment of tender documentation including interpreting drawings, specifications, reports and general scope of works requirements.
  • Preparation of consultant, subcontractor and material packages for pricing using latest estimating software.
  • Review and preparation of consultant, subcontractor and materials cost analysis for cost comparison purposes.
  • Continuous management of tender documents.
  • Pricing and review of preliminaries items for review by senior management.
  • Assistance in the completion and return of tender documents.
  • Assistance in the preparation of project handover reports including collation of the necessary and associated documentation.
  • Preparation and maintenance of estimating data for reports and tender application.
  • Involvement in a diverse portfolio of project sectors – Commercial & Fit-Out, Civic & Amenity, Education, Conservation & Restoration, Healthcare, Pharma & Industrial, Tourism & Leisure, Residential.

The Candidate

  • Ideally be from a Main Contractor background with relevant on-site operations experience and/or good technical knowledge.
  • Minimum 1 year experience.
  • Good ability to read drawings, specifications and reports with capability to assess issues and risk.
  • Clear and concise communicator with an aptitude for problem solving and thinking outside the box.
  • Capable of working on his/her own initiatives and as part of a team..
  • Able to work accurately and efficiently while managing own time to meet critical deadlines.
  • Relevant diploma or degree level qualification in Quantity Surveying, Engineering or Construction related discipline.
  • Be proficient in MS Word and Excel and a knowledge of Conquest Estimating is a plus.
  • Hold a valid driving licence.

You will work as part of the tender bid team in conjunction with the Technical and Project Coordination Departments to thoroughly scrutinise project tender requirements, review scope, assessment of costing requirements and analysis of data received to assist in the preparation of tender costs proposals, all the time marketing the Purcell brand.
